Wildspirit: capturing the personality of a thoroughly unorthodox gin.
Boutique spirits are booming and the gin category has progressively become more and more adventurous. When our clients at Wildspirit Distilling briefed us to create packaging for a new gin, we had heard of many unusual botanicals but perhaps none so unusual as their proposed ‘Bloody Mary’ gin. This unique and unusual gin is infused with celery and cherry tomatoes, creating a distinct but subtle taste of the famous cocktail. Our task was to create the packaging but also to name the gin. We came up with a twist on the the name – Bloody Merry – which also tied in nicely with the unorthodox personality of Wildspirit.
We wanted to capture the irreverent energy of Wildspirit as well as the unorthodoxy of the gin. Wrapping around the label is a riotous dinner party scene: guests throw ingredients to a slightly manic distiller, as well as at each other. The splashes of green and red instantly convey the touch of the subtle flavour cues of the gin.
